  • Microvascular issues with diabetes that should be better appreciated

Dr. Brewer has mentioned microvascular complications of high blood sugar in several videos, but I think people focus mostly on the cardiovascular disease potential from the macrovascular complications of high blood sugar (and related high insulin levels). If a person has high blood glucose, then in addition to cardiovascular disease, all of their small arteries down to their capillaries are also silently getting damaged. Those small blood vessels feed everything from our eyes and brains down to the heart, kidney, liver, fingers, toes, etc. Here are a couple of videos by John Campbell (who made a series of videos for training doctors) on microvascular complications for the kidneys and the eyes.
